Betsy's Other Successful
Dogs
"TARA"
Betsy started taking obedience classes in 1977 because she
wanted her pet German shepherd dog to be able to heel off leash, plus she was
interested in learning to train dogs. She had always wanted a career working
with dogs, but she never thought she wanted to show them! After a year of
training, Betsy's instructor forced her to enter a match show. Betsy and her
German shepherd Tara earned third place with a 195, and Betsy was hooked.
Tara got her CD in 1980, including a high in trial from Novice A.
She continued to show Tara to her CDX with a high in trial.
"CLANCY"

Her second dog, Clancy of Kristin Acres, UD, Can. CD, a
rescued golden retriever, was to be her husband Dave's dog. Dave took
nine-month-old Clancy through one beginner class, but when Clancy still wouldn't
come when called, Betsy took over his training too. Clancy earned his CD
in 1982. Betsy then took a break to have her first child, Kristan--the first of
four girls--and resumed showing in 1983, when she and Clancy earned his Canadian
CD and American CDX. Clancy's career was interrupted again in 1985 by the birth
of Betsy's second daughter, Jackie, but not before Clancy got his UD, including
a high in trial from Utility B for his second leg, in the middle of July when
Betsy was eight-and-a-half-months pregnant!
"RANDY"

A second rescue golden, Stardust Sandi Blair CDX (also
known as Randy) came to Betsy in 1984 at about 18 months of age. Betsy's
instructors helped her find Randy, who was sired by a top competitive obedience
dog. Randy earned his CD and CDX titles with Dog World Awards and numerous HITs.
Unfortunately, a severe jumping problem forced her early retirement.
"NITRO"

For a change after a few Goldens, Betsy got her first Border
Collie, Nitro, she went to Janice Demello, whose dogs and training methods she
had been admiring. Nitro earned his CD in 1990 and his CDX in 1991, with class
placements and several HITs along the way.
"JESSE"

Betsy took in a rescue Australian shepherd, Ch. Tres Rios
Strut Your Stuff, UD, Can. CD, ASCA CD, CGC (Jesse), in 1991, since she had
always had an interest in the breed, and now AKC recognition would make showing
an Aussie in obedience more practical. Jesse made his novice debut in Canada in
1993, with four placements and two high in trials for a Dog World Award. Jesse
earned his AKC CD in 1994, including HIT at the national specialty. Jesse
provided another new venture for Betsy, since he was also shown in conformation.
Linda Brennan handled him to his AKC championship. Jesse went on to earn his CDX
and UD titles.
"TROUBLE"
Betsy and Trouble- 6th Place Novice 1998 Eastern Regional
U-CDX Trouble Rescue Nine-One-One, CDX, ASCA
CD (Trouble), a nine-month-old rescued Australian shepherd,
arrived and was unplanned! Betsy took Trouble in to find her a
new home, but Trouble had other plans. She endeared herself to
Betsy and ended up staying for good. Trouble earned her CD and
CDX titles in both AKC and UKC. She also placed sixth
place in Novice at the 1998 Eastern Regional. Trouble also
had several High In Trials and many placements.
"DESI"

Cavahau's Breakout the Banditos
CD, AX, AXJ (Desi) is Betsy's pet Chihuahua. Betsy and
Desi earned his CD in obedience and his excellent titles in
agility, with some help from Betsy's daughter Lindsey.
Desi's favorite job is sitting in Betsy's lap!
