Linda Brennan, Instructor

Linda Brennan has trained with Betsy Scapicchio since 1986. Linda started out as an instructor for Morris Hills Dog Training Club and now has been an instructor at Top Dog since 1991.

Earned CD, CDX, UD, and OTCH on Spy (BC) in 11 months. Only 9 shows to earn his OTCH! 
Earned HITs and Dogworld Awards with Ruby (Welsh Springer), Kate (Golden) and Spy (BC). 
Placed second in Novice at the 2000 Classic with Spy. Placed in Super Star at the All Star Championships in 2002, 2003, and 2005. 
Linda and Spy have earned 27 HITs, 16 HCs, over 1000 OTCH points, and over 60 first places. 
Maddie (Welsh Springer) was number one Welsh Springer in both obedience and agility for 2004. Ruby and Kelsey (Welsh Springer) have been number one Welsh Springer in obedience in the past. 
Earned conformation championships on both Maddie and Ruby, in addition to showing many other dogs in conformation, including Betsy's Jesse, Jinx, Neo, and Chloe. 
Earned first MACH title on a Welsh Springer with Maddie. Placed 4th and 10th in the 16 Division at the All Star Championships in 2005 and 2006.  Competed at 2006 and 2007 AKC Agility Nationals with five clean runs in 2006.
Earned Spy's AX and OAJ titles and AX and AXJ titles on her Norfolk Terrier, Oz. Also earned Novice titles on Storm (Golden) and Open titles Maggie (Westie) for students. 
Earned RAE titles on Spy and Maddie.
Earned 42 obedience titles and 9 rally titles on her own six dogs, plus a CD on Gracie (Malamute) with class placements and a CD and RN/RA/RE on Diesel (Rottweiler).

OTCH U-UD Spy vs. Spy, UDX5, HSAS, AX, OAJ, RAE, ASCA UD

Spy is a Border Collie who came to Linda at the age of two.  He is currently in training in obedience, in agility and also in herding.  He has introduced Linda to this new pursuit!  Spy is the son of Betsy Scapicchio's dog Jinx. 

In April 2000, Spy earned his PT title at his first herding tests.  From June 2000 through March 2001, Linda and Spy completed his U-CD title with three High in Trials, his CD with five HITs, his CDX with three HITs, two legs toward his U-CDX with two HITs, and his UD.  On May 5, 2001, they completed his OTCH in just nine shows over six weeks, with two more HITs and one HC, then Spy earned his UDX in July.  In September 2000, they placed second in the Novice Division at the 2000 Classic with a total of only four points off in three classes, including one class where they lost only a half point!  They placed sixth in 2005, tenth in 2002, and ninth in 2003 in the Super Star division at the All Star Championships.  Linda and Spy have earned 27 High in Trial Awards, 16 High Combined Awards, over 130 class placements (including over 60 firsts), over 1000 OTCH points, and scores of 199.5 in Novice, Open, and Utility!

  
 


CH. MACH U-CDX Briallu Love Her Madly, UD, RAE, OF, Can. CD, ASCA UD, TT, CGC

Maddie, a Welsh Springer Spaniel, earned her confirmation championship and competes in both obedience and agility.  She is the first Welsh Springer to earn a Master Agility Champion title.  Maddie earned her CD in July 2003 and received five first places in Novice, including scores of 196, 197, and 198.  Linda and Maddie completed her U-CD in October and her U-CDX in December 2003 and her Canadian CD in April 2004, in three straight shows each.  In February 2004, she earned her AKC CDX.  After completing her MACH title, Maddie returned to obedience competition and earned her AKC and ASCA UDs in April and May of 2007.  She was the number one Welsh Springer in both obedience and agility for 2004!  Linda and Maddie placed fourth in the 16" Division at the 2005 All Star Championships and placed again in 2006.  They also competed in the 2006 and 2007 AKC Agility Nationals, with five clean runs in 2006.  In addition, she has appeared in commercials--including four commercials for Chuck E. Cheese, in which she co-stars with Spy--as well as in In Style magazine and other print work!

  


U-CD Pinchbeck Ozymandias RN, AX, AXJ, OF, CGC

And now for something completely different--Oz, a Norfolk Terrier, is Linda's newest dog.  Oz was bred by Sue Ely, one of the assistant instructors at Top Dog.  So far Oz is excelling at agility, obedience, rally and earthdog!  Oz earned his Novice, Open, and Excellent Agility titles in less than a year of limited showing.  He continues to compete in all venues, with points towards his confirmation championship and one leg toward his junior earthdog title.


U-CD CH. Briallu Ruby Tuesday, UD, Can. CDX, WD, VC, CGC  (5/1986-11/1997)

Ruby was the number one Welsh Springer in obedience by all systems in 1991. She was the number one Welsh in Canada in 1994. She was the highest scoring Welsh at the 1991 and 1994 National Specialties and 1992 Regional Specialty, as well as numerous supported entries. In addition to her obedience titles, Ruby was a breed champion and earned a Working Dog title in the field. These well-rounded credentials earned her a Versatility Certificate from the WSSCA. Ruby also excelled in Junior Showmanship with Betsy's daughter Kristan, and together they earned three first and numerous other placements. Ruby also starred in commercials and print ads and on product packaging.


U-CD Briallu Rubicon's Special K, CDX, Can. CDX, CGC (9/1990 - 2/2005)

Kelsey, also a Welsh Springer Spaniel, was number one in her breed in the Delaney system for 1993. She was also the number one Welsh in Canada in 1993. Like Ruby, Kelsey is also a star in commercials, ads, and packaging. Once Kelsey retired, she always enjoyed accompanying Linda on trips to the stable.  She was a great companion.


U-CDX Rubicon's K Mart Special, UD, RN, Can. CD, ASCA CD, CGC (1/1992 - 7/2006)

        

Kate is a Golden Retriever who Linda rescued from a neglectful home at the age of about one-and-a-half years old.  Linda and Kate have earned High in Trials in AKC, UKC, and ASCA.  Kate also placed fifth in Novice at the 1996 Cycle Eastern Regional and 11th in Open at the 1997 World Series, as well as participating in several other tournaments.  Linda and Kate earned Kate's Utility Dog title in April 1999 and subsequently earned several UDX legs and OTCH points.  Kate retired from competition in late 1999, but emerged again in 2004 when Kate earned her Canadian CD at age 12 with three class placements including a first!. At age 13 1/2 Kate earned her RN title!!!  Kate appears in ads and catalogs, and her TV credits include Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Linda also enjoys showing dogs in conformation. She has successfully shown many different breeds, including Welsh Springers, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shorthaired Pointers, an Alaskan Malamute, Samoyeds, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Great Pyrenees, and a Belgian Tervuren.  Linda also earned a CD title--with class placements--on "Gracie" the Alaskan Malamute.  She is currently training "Diesel" the Rottie  with whom Linda has earned CD, RN, and RA titles!  She also earned an NA and NAJ on Storm, the Golden Retriever pictured above.  Linda earned NAP, NJP, OAJ, OJP, and NA titles on "Maggie" the West Highland White Terrier.   Linda also trains in sheep herding, spaniel field work, and earthdog.
