Feb 4: Congratulations to Betsy for finishing Rev's UD on Friday with a HIT. Then Betsy followed that up by taking HIT in both the AM and PM shows today in Staten Island with Dealer. We are guessing that Dealer still wants to show Rev who is the top dog in the Scapicchio family. Deb and Zahra won Utility and were second in Open in the AM trial for HC and were second in Open in the PM trial. Linda and Spell are burning up the mats in Novice B with their return to the obedience ring winning all of their classes all weekend and having a run off with Betsy for HIT on Friday. Linda's Maddie made an appearance in Veterans and strutted he stuff to show that she still has it. Dianne and Freddie completed their CD with another beautiful class and a run off with Linda and Spell! Congratulations also go out to Terri and Myah AND Eleanor and Ozma for finishing their UDX! Cathy and Spook also finished their CD today with a first place in Novice A. Great job to all! Most of all, how lucky are we to be able to spend our days doing what we love to do with the dogs that we love so much. Will post more brags as they come in.
Jan 24: Although the title was earned in 2011, we just found out that Terry Papineau and beautiful Myah earned their ASCA OTCH! Way to go Terry! No one was more surprised than Terry when the certificate came for the OTCH; Terry thought that they still needed a few more points! Congratulations to team Myah on this accomplishment! We also want to congratulate Hank and Oriana on earning their third UDX leg with Oriana's first OTCH points and OM points. What a great job Hank is doing with this talented girl!
Jan 15: Congratulations to Dianne and Freddie for getting their first AKC CD leg this weekend with a first place and a 197. This team is hot! Andrae and Willow were in the ribbons at both Princeton and K-9 this weekend. Good job! Kathie was busy on Sunday taking second in Nov A with Spook and earning a Rally Novice title with Donovan. Congrats also to Lorna and Damon who earned their UDX at the Princeton Trial on Saturday in just 10 shows. Wow, amazing!! Terry and Myah were busy too getting UDX legs 8 and 9! Congratulations are also in order for Betsy and Rev who earned Rev's first UD leg by winning both Open and Utility at K9 in Verona on Sunday and going HIT and HC. That's the way to get your first UD leg Rev! Linda and Zahra were oh so close in Utility, and got a 198 in Open. Linda only worked with Zahra 2 times before this show. We are so lucky to have such talented and gifted trainers at Top Dog! Debbie and her German Shepherd Grace earned their second RAE leg in as many shows and last but certainly not least, last weekend Amy and her Dobe Jersey Girl earned their RE. We are off and running in 2012!
Jan 8: Congratulations to Meryl Winnie and her Doberman Isis for earning Top Dog's first Obedience title in 2012. Isis earned her UD this past weekend. All three legs were earned with 1st places. Nice job ladies, that's the way to kick off 2012!
Jan 1: We have our first brag for 2012! Top Dog's own Nose Work instructor Karin Damon and her Golden Retriever "Jig" took 2nd place overall in NJ's first NACSW Nose Work Trial this past weekend at Centenary College. Jig came in 2nd in vehicle and 2nd in interior elements. Congratulations Karin, way to blaze a path for your students!

2011
December 11: For most of us, the Bayshore trial was the last of the year. We had so much fun hanging out, showing our dogs and talking about holiday plans. Andrae and Willow earned their AKC CD, Eleanor and Ozma earned UDX leg 9; I think I know who will be the first UDX of 2012! Cheryl and Grady earned UDX leg 1, Deb and Zahra won the run off for a first in Utility and last but not least, Lorna and Damon won Open for HIT and HC. Congratulations to all of the other Top Doggers who also did so well. Happy Holidays everyone!
November 22: Every year the top obedience and agility dogs in the country come together for a weekend in December to compete for the prestigious designation of National Obedience Champion (NOC) or National Agility Champion (NAC). We would like to congratulate the Top Dog teams that qualified for this prestigious event. Good luck to the teams that are making the trek to Orlando on December 17 and 18, we are all cheering for you!
The obedience teams are:
Betsy Scapicchio and Dealer Petra Ford and Tyler Mike Heaner and Dixie Vivan Bregman and Sugah Janet Doerer and Chase Faith Beiser and Clara
The Agility team is: Deb Stevenson and Soren
Whether making the trek to Orlando or not, it is truly an honor to be invited to compete at this event. Congratulations, you are all already winners!
November 19: Congratulations are in order for Andrea and Willow! Willow earned her ASCA CD at the Staten Island Trial. Three trials, three first places. Willow is now Isengard's Willow of the West RN CGC HIC ASCA CD. Great job Andrea, on to Open!
November 18: A round of applause please for Lorna and Damon who attained Damon's OTCH in just 7 shows! Amazing!! Enjoy the ride Lorna, there is much more in store for team Damon down the road!
November 7: I am behind on posting brags so lets catch up! On October 29th as the nor' easter was bearing down on us, Dianne Posteraro and Freddie were at Freddie's first UKC trial. Freddie must have liked the early season snow because he scored a 198+ winning a runoff for second place. In the second trial Freddie scored a 198.5 for a first place. Freddie gave Dianne her first thrill of going HIT! Many more to come for this team for sure! At the same trial Kathy Hetfield and Katy scored a 195.5 for a Novice B leg. Congratulations! Placements for the second trial were done in the dark as Top Dog lost electricity and the trees started to bend. Talk about trick or treat!
This past weekend was another huge success for Top Dog students and in different venues too! Congratulations to Marie Potts and her sheltie Twister who earned their AKC Preferred Agility Championship (PACH) on November 5, 2011 at the Staten Island agility trial. Having completed the points requirement the day before and getting their 19th QQ, they finished the title with their 20th QQ on Saturday. Later in the day they went on to Q yet again in FAST ending the day with 3 Q's and 3 BLUE ribbons.
Speaking of blue ribbons, Lorna and Damon came home with a handful this weekend from the Back Mountain KC Trial in Bloomsburg, PA winning Utility on Saturday with a 198.5 and a 199.5 in Open for HIT/HC. On Sunday the dynamic duo scored a 199 in Utility for another HIT. That OTCH is right around the corner Lorna! Top Dog students dominated the Bloomsburg shows all weekend taking the 1-4 spots in all classes both days. Deb and Zahra had a second in Utility with a 197.5 for some more OTCH points, Shirley and Abby were spotted in a few run offs and in the ribbons as always. Betsy and Betsy had a run off again with Dealer and Rev with dueling 199's in Open on Saturday!! Then on Sunday Dealer took Open with a 198.5 and Rev was second with 198 . Dealer got second in Utility with 198 and HC! On to the NOI in December for this amazing team!
October 22: Zahra and Deb are on cloud nine after the PCOTC "2 trials in one day" trial today. Not only did they complete their OM2 title, they also earned their OTCH by winning 4 classes with four first places, 2 HIT and 2 HC. Days like this are right out of a story book! Linda Lorig and Fletcher earned their RAE title and Cheryl and Grady got another Utility leg and qualified in Versatility. In the afternoon trial Grady earned RAE leg 6 and High Combined in Rally. In was a beautiful fall day in Yorktown Heights, NY!
October 16: Top Dog students had a great time at the Harvest Cluster this weekend in Augusta, NJ. Eleanor Campbell and Ozma went HC on Friday and HIT / HC on Saturday for Ozma's 7th and 8th UDX legs. Sue Cone and Hannah picked up another UDX leg too! Mary Ann Flanagan and Astro ventured into the Rally Novice ring and got a first place with a 98! Astro wasn't done at that, he also came in second in Graduate Novice. Terry Papineau and Myah, at their first outdoor show, came away with a HIT out of Open B on Sunday. Guess Myah likes showing outdoors! Beth Williams and her Bella earned their CD in Novice A in one weekend at their first trial ever finishing with a 2nd and a 1st place! Congratulations to all the Top Dog students that did so well over the weekend!
October 2: Please join us in congratulating Top Dog instructor Barb Miller and her wonderful Cardigan Corgi Olivia on earning their AKC Master Agility CHampionship today at the Bayshore trial. Barb and Olivia are a dynamic duo of smooth, consistent teamwork. Congratulations MACH Olivia! Best wishes and safe travels to the USDAA Nationals!
Sept. 23: Huge congratulations to Kathleen Oswald and her Sheltie Partner who earned their MACH2 at the Princeton Trials last Sunday. Kathleen also attended this year's World Team tryouts and also made it to the Challengers round at the AKC Nationals. Way to go Kathleen! And where does Kathleen get it? Mom of course! Congratulations to Diane Goodspeed and Demon who at the same trial earned their MACH6! We wish Diane and Kathleen much continued success.
Sept 4 and 5: Betsy and Dealer cleaned up at the Morris Hills trial winning the Utility Class with a 199.5 and coming in second in Open for HIT and HC. Betsy also retired three challenge trophies: HIT, HC and High in Utility. To retire a trophy for a club the same handler had to win the trophy 3 times. The best part for Betsy is that her other dogs have won the trophies in the past and Jinx, Neo, Chloe and Dealer all have their names engraved on the trophies. How cool! Kathy Hetfield and Katy got their first Novice B leg with a 195.5; congratulations ladies! Deb and Zahra won the Open class and the trophy for Highest Scoring Dog Without an OTCH. They won that trophy last year too. With only 11 points to go to get their OTCH, this is one trophy Deb does not want to retire next year! More good news was that Cheryl and Grady picked up a Utility leg and Vivian and Mazel finished their AKC CDX. Lynn and Sizzle had a perfect day...literally! Sizzle finished her Rally Advanced title with a perfect score of 100, and got a Beginner Novice leg with a perfect score of 200! Then Monday it was on to the Schooley's Mountain KC Trial where Deb and Zahra went HIT from the Open class and Libby and Luna picked up a bumper leg in Open. There were lots of other great performances by other Top Doggers too for a wonderful way for everyone to end the summer.
July 24, 2011: What fun we all had at the DPCTZ trial yesterday; so many Top Doggers did well. We love to brag about everyone's accomplishments and would hate to miss anything, but we don't get to see it all. Remember to email Deb D'Elia at sly96@optonline.net with your wins and brags so we can post them here! Here is what we know so far from yesterdays results: Linda and Spell WON the Novice B class for a bumper leg. Lorna and Damon WON the Utility A class for leg #2. Barbara and Max took second place in Utility A for their first leg on their first try! Deb and Zahra WON Utility B and Open B for HIT and HC and UDX leg #9. Sue Ann and Cuervo took HIT for the Doberman Specialty. Sue and Hannah took second in Open B and picked up a UDX leg. Peggy and Feather, Jean and Katie as well as Judy and Bunny all have a brand new UD! Karen and her Cavaliers both did well in Rally Novice with Emma finishing the title. Drew and Sugar the Pug have their RA title and Linda and Fletcher finished their RE title. Cathy and Eastman had a cute class for their first leg in RE. There were many other nice classes that we saw: Judy and Paxil, how great to see you in the ring, Eleanor and Ozma were spotted in the ribbons, Vivian and Sugah had lovely classes too, and Jane and little Kliney OH SO CLOSE!!!
July 23, 2011: Yesterday at the Chambersburg Kennel Club trial in Centre Hall, PA., Lana Kline and Jypsy completed their CD in style. They finished the title with a first place, a 199 and a High in Trial!! Today, Jypsy went back for a bumper leg and earned a 198.5 and another HIT! Jypsy wanted to show her brothers from the Break Out litter that the girls can do it too! Lana's boy Lance played in Rally Advanced where he won the class and earned his second leg with a 97. In two days team Lana racked up two HITs and in three classes, three first places. I think Lana would agree that the weekend shows were appropriately named the Happy Valley Cluster! Congratulations to Lana and the Border Collies!
July 2, 2011: Congratulations to Eleanor Campbell and her beautiful Shelti Ozma who earned their ASCA OTCH today! Way to go ladies!
June 25, 2011: Lots of success today at the Staten Island Kennel Club's two trials in one day! Susan Tufo and Sheltie Lacie are sporting a brand new CDX, and Faith Beiser and Clara have a shiny new UDX! Deb Cuiffo and Grace ventured into Rally for a change of pace while they work on their UD and after winning a breed Championship two weeks ago and earned their RN title. What a fun day! And while we were all in Staten Island, Hank Hahn and beautiful Oriana were off in western PA where they earned their UD. In Agiility Alice Kovac and little KooDee earned an Open Standard title. THEN Linda's niece Piper showed Maddie in Veteran Sweepstakes and was second in her class. Maddie had fun in the ring with Piper and they looked great together! So how do you cap off four days of success in agility, obedience, hunting and breed??? By going out the following weekend and earning a MACH3 of course!! January 15 - February 5: Since the New Year began, our fearless leader has been out there tearing up the mats with first and second places and HITs! Betsy started in NJ with Rev's CD title and a 199 for first place. From there, on to Pennsylvania where Dealer and Rev showed so well that Betsy had a run off with herself to duke it out for HIT! Big brother Dealer still had a thing or two to teach Rev about who the real "top dog" is and he won the run off. This past weekend in Staten Island they had more great showings for Rev with first and second places, and two more HITs and HCs for Dealer.
